Warehime Receives State Award of Merit from Athletic Administrators Association

Manchester Valley High School Athletic Director Troy Warehime was awarded the 2018
Maryland State Award of Merit by the Maryland State Athletic Directors Association (MSADA).
The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) State Award
of Merit is presented annually in each state. It is an award presented to the state association
NIAAA member who demonstrates outstanding leadership and meritorious service and
achievement in the vocation of interscholastic administration.
Dr. Dave Dolch, Supervisor of Athletics for Carroll County Public Schools states, “Troy
Warehime is one of the most active athletic administrators in MSADA, instructing training
classes often for the benefit of others regarding NIAAA certification. The merit service award to
Troy is well earned!”
Selections and presentations are made by each state athletic administrator association,
and the award is provided by the NIAAA. The Maryland NIAAA State Award of Merit is
sponsored by Daktronics and presented by MSADA at its annual conference.... Read more

The Carroll County Department of Planning Photo Contest

The Contest:
The Carroll County Department of Planning is requesting bicycle and pedestrian photos be submitted by Carroll citizens.

After a public vote, the top photos will be selected to appear in the Bicycle-Pedestrian Master Plan.  The photo with the most votes will receive a $50 gift card to Race Pace Bicycles

Rules of the Contest:
1.      Photos must include human activity on County bike-ped infrastructure, which includes trails, sidewalks, bike lanes, etc.

2.      The contest will run from Monday, May 21, 2018 through Friday, July 6, 2018.

3.      With the submission of the photo, the following must be included:

Name of the photographer    
Phone number of the photographer
Home address of the photographer
Email address of the photographer
Location in Carroll County where the photo was taken (e.g., Freedom Park Trail, Sykesville Linear Trail, Baltimore Street in Taneytown)... Read more

On May 20, 2018, between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM the Nathan Chris Baker Foundation will be sponsoring a 5K and 1 mile fun run in the area of Gist Road and Winchester Drive. The following roadways will be closed to all traffic and motorists will need to utilize alternate routes around this area: Gist Road and Winchester Drive. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Grant Earmarks $200,000 for Businesses Seeking High Speed Internet

Westminster, MD, Thursday, May 17, 2018 – Carroll County businesses with limited access to high speed internet may now have access to a new Carroll County Government grant to improve their internet connection. Today, the Board of Commissioners approved $200,000 to assist businesses and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in gaining access to higher internet speeds. The Carroll Broadband Grant Program will help to make “last-mile” connections to meet commercial/industrial users unmet broadband needs through various service providers. BERC Draws Businesses and Job Seekers

The Carroll County Business/Employment Resource Center (BERC) hosted three separate job fair events last week in Westminster. These job fairs helped local businesses meet hundreds of candidates who could be considered for current and future employment opportunities. Even with an unemployment rate well below 4%, a cumulative attendance of approximately 450 job seekers came to meet with business representatives and apply for job openings.... Read more
