Using Westminster Parks and Open Space
Westminster, MD

As concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak continue to grip our nation we believe that our parks, trails and open spaces can continue to be used in a safe manner by our community to realize the mental and physical health benefits these spaces provide.  Please follow these recommendations:

  • Refrain from using parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms, or may have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Follow the CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of parks or trails (www.cdc.gov).
  • While walking, running, or biking on trails, warn other users of your presence and as you pass.  Move aside to let others pass.
  • Observe the CDC’s minimum recommended physical distancing of 6 feet from other individuals at all times. If this is not possible, users should find an alternate location or depart that space.
Closures:
Playground Equipment, Pavilions, and Basketball and Tennis Courts within Westminster City Parks and Open Spaces are closed until further notice. The Westminster Skate Park is also closed until further notice. There will be no access to public restrooms, portable restrooms, or water fountains.

These closures are being made in the interest of public health and safety.
Coronavirus can live on certain surfaces for up to three days, possibly longer. The City cannot sanitize equipment nor can it enforce proper physical distancing in the Skate Park and playgrounds.

In accordance with Governor Hogan's Executive Order, gatherings of more than 10 people at a time in our parks & on our fields (including outdoor picnicking, pick-up sports and other group hangouts) are prohibited.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time!
