Hampstead Elementary to Host Reading around the World Night
Westminster, MD
11/13/2019 12:36 PM

Students and families at Hampstead Elementary School will be participating in a Reading around the World Night on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

According to reading specialist Joy Bell, “Embracing literacy, diversity, and multiculturalism is an integral part of the Hampstead school community, and we are celebrating by hosting a night filled with international cuisine, dances, music, and books!” Students are preparing by researching cultures from around the world.  Each grade level will decorate their hallway(s) with artifacts of their learning and families will be invited to “travel the world” through Hampstead’s hallways on the night of the event.

The evening will begin with international cuisine provided by Outlaw BBQ and Bertucco’s Bakery. Rhythm dances from around the world will be performed by the Okra Dance Company from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. Participants may get their “passports” stamped as they travel the international corridors from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. An optional parent tutorial on Fundations 101 also will be held from 7:00 to 7:30, and the book fair will be open throughout the evening.
