South Carroll High School to Hold 50th Anniversary Re-dedication

South Carroll High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a grand re-dedication on Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3, 2018. All alumni, former teachers, coaches, support staff, and interested friends of the community are invited to join the SCHS community for a weekend of celebration.


The Stagelighters will present a musical cabaret entitled Cavaliers through the Years on Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts auditorium. Alumni who participated in past theatre productions will join in the performance. The event is free and open to the public.


The grand re-dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium. A variety of guests from the local communities and the Board of Education will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony and offering remarks. Current students will lead parts of the ceremony and perform with the alumni in chorus and band selections. 


At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests will be invited to tour the building to see how the school has changed through 50 years. There also will be a reception with light refreshments in the main lobby. Special anniversary memorabilia will be available for purchase during the reception and tours. Artwork by alumni artists of SCHS will be displayed in the auditorium lobby during the weekend celebration.  


An alumni and friends dinner and dance will be held on Saturday, March 3, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Winfield Fire Hall. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased from committee members or directly from the school (410-751-3575). Tickets also may be ordered online at:   Harvest Chicken will be catering the event and music will be provided by alumni DJ, Tyler Kennedy. There will be door prizes as well as a basket raffle.
