During the month of April, Hampstead Elementary School will celebrate Autism /Disability awareness month. The school will celebrate our differences in the following ways: participating in activities to build knowledge of disabilities and autism, presenting facts about disabilities , and a door decorating contest to help the community better understand disabilities. By celebrating our differences, we are able to create a climate of acceptance, build tolerance for our differences, and celebrate how we are all unique.  On Wednesday, April, 5, 2017 we will celebrate Autism Awareness month by having students participate in an assembly where they will learn about autism and other disabilities. A guest speaker from the Special Olympics will be present and share experiences of how students with disabilities are able to participate in sports no matter their challenges.
