Girl Scouts of Central Maryland

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland serves more than 24,000 girls and 9,000 volunteers in Baltimore City, and  Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, & Howard Counties. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. In 1912 Juliette Gordon Low created Girl Scouts to provide girls with opportunities to develop into strong, independent, successful women. Today, we continue to offer research-based programs for girls with their learning styles and development in mind. Girl Scouts has been a key driver of workforce development for women for over a century. In the United States, 80% of female tech leaders, 75% of current female senators, 90% of female astronauts who have traveled in space and, 50% of female business owners are Girl Scout alumna.

Girls on the Run of Central MD

Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development.  Participants explore and discuss their own beliefs around experiences and challenges girls face in grades 3-8.  Focusing on the development of important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences. We start with helping the girls get a better understanding of who they are and what’s important to them.  Then, we look at the importance of team work and healthy relationships.  And, finally, the girls explore how they can positively connect with and shape the world, all while using an innovative running program.
