Today, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) recognized Springdale Preparatory School in New Windsor for partnering with Carroll County Recreation and Parks by signing a joint use agreement for the former New Windsor Middle School.

The West Carroll Recreation Council relies heavily on use of the now closed New Windsor Middle School gymnasium and athletic fields to operate their community recreation programs. When Springdale Preparatory School came to the New Windsor facility, Springdale Prep CEO Johnny Graham met with Recreation and Parks Director Jeff Degitz and expressed a desire to be a good community partner and work together to provide as much access to the site as possible for recreation and parks programs.  While this has been done informally and effectively up until this point, both Mr. Graham and Mr. Degitz expressed a goal of formalizing this agreement in writing.  Last week, both parties signed a joint use agreement, similar to what is in place with the Carroll County Public Schools and Carroll Community College, giving Recreation & Parks the first opportunity for community usage for after-school activities.  This ongoing commitment and cooperation will help the West Carroll Recreation Council effectively serve their community.

Today’s open session will be available for viewing on the county meeting portalYouTube channel, and the county Facebook page. In addition, all meetings will be replayed on Comcast Channel 24.
