Carroll County Department of Public Safety-Emergency Management is pleased to announce the release of an upgraded version of the Prepare Me Carroll mobile app. The update, designed to help Carroll County citizens, businesses and visitors prepare for emergencies, is released to kick-off September as National Preparedness Month. The app is free and is available for both iOS and Android devices.

New features include a more user-friendly interface, an “I’m Okay” feature, and an improved interactive emergency kit checklist. Users can also activate push notifications to receive emergency alerts and notifications.  These features are added to the original version where users can see the local weather forecast and radar, view the Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page and Twitter feed, check for power outages, traffic alerts and closings, access information about different types of emergencies and view a community calendar.

Also available on the updated Prepare Me Carroll app is the “Submit a Tip” option. This part of the app can be used to send non-emergency information to a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Investigator. Because the message is sent from the app, it allows you to choose the amount of information you wish to share, allowing for greater anonymity. It is important to remember that “Submit a Tip” is for non-emergency tips only. All in-progress events, including suspicious activity, should be directed to the Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-5900 or call 911 to ensure a quick response.

“The updated Prepare Me Carroll mobile app is now even more useful in preparing Carroll County residents and visitors for emergencies before they happen and providing more resiliency when they occur,” said Board of Commissioner President Dennis Frazier, District 3. “I encourage all citizens to download the app and share it with their families and friends.”

Download the Prepare Me Carroll mobile app onto your smartphone or tablet today! It is available at no charge from the iPhone and Google Play app stores.
