The Community Media Center (CMC) is offering broadcast services to all candidates running for contested, public offices in the 2018 Maryland State Primary Election, in the form of Candidate Profiles. The Community Media Center will provide candidates with production facilities and production support to produce an unedited presentation that can run up to 5 minutes in length, at no cost. These Candidate Profiles will be broadcast, on Comcast Cable Channels 19 and 23 in Carroll County, Maryland, and will be posted on a special election page of the website www.carrollmediacenter.org, in accordance with the Political Campaign Content Policy established by our Board of Directors.

The CMC has offered candidates the opportunity to record a presentation, with the goal of establishing an equal platform for political advocacy and providing local residents with information about individuals seeking public office in the upcoming Primary election.

“Our goal is to provide equal access to all candidates. This exchange of viewpoints with local residents helps voters make informed decisions and engage in the democratic process,” said Richard Turner, Executive Director of the Community Media Center. “Using our media channels to make information accessible to the community is one way to further empower the people we serve for an engaged democracy.”

In addition, the CMC will feature a special 2018 Primary Election page on the website www.carrollmediacenter.org, that will include candidate statements and basic information about the Primary election from various public sources. Information will be added to the site as it becomes available, so the public is encouraged to visit often to insure that they have the most up-to-date information.

The Community Media Center is pleased to provide this valuable programming to the residents of Carroll County. We encourage local citizens to register to vote in the 2018 primary before June 5,2018, to learn about all the candidates, and take part in the Primary election.
