With the potential for snow in the long-range forecast, the Carroll County Department of Public Works would like to remind everyone to be careful on the roads this weekend and during any other snow event that impacts Carroll County. They want to share a few tips on a successful snow removal plan.

If possible, avoid being on the roads during plowing operations. If you have a driveway, please park in the driveway and avoid parking along the sides of streets, curbs, and cul-de-sacs. Remove your trash cans and recycling bins from the curb, as well as basketball hoops and other athletic equipment. This will ensure that snow removal will be more effective and efficient. When clearing your driveway and sidewalks, do not throw snow in the roadway as this creates additional hazards for road crews. You may see the trucks several times before the routes are completely finished. All routes are different in nature. It may take a little longer to get to your road, but it surely won’t be missed.

The Roads Department has 63 routes that cover every County maintained road and will be out in full force for this weekend’s pending storm. The County is committed to everyone’s safety, and this can be achieved more efficiently with the cooperation of all citizens.

For more information, visit our web page at There you will find our brochure “Best way to clear your driveway” for additional tips and information on preparing for winter storms.

You may call Roads Operations at 410-386-6717 with any questions you have in advance of the inclement weather. During actual weather events, there may be a delay in returning calls.

Please pass this information on to everyone you know and as always, thank you for your cooperation in making a successful plowing operation possible.
