Carroll County History Project to hold Veterans Reception

The Carroll County History Project will hold a special Veterans Reception on Friday, June 12, 2015 beginning at 4:00 PM at the Community Media Center, located at 1301 Washington Road, Westminster, to honor Carroll County Veterans who shared their story with the History Project and to recognize veteran’s service to our country.

On April 25, 2015, local service men and women who were active in WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan shared their memories with the Carroll County History Project. Their remarkable stories were captured on video and will become a part of the Carroll County History Project’s permanent, online video archive at .  In addition, Congressman Chris Van Hollen and the Carroll County History Project will submit these interviews with local veterans to the Library of Congress' Veteran History Project, preserving their stories of service for generations to come. The interviews will air on Cable Channel 19 throughout the month of June.

The Veterans Reception on Friday, June 12, 2015 will feature a short video presentation showcasing local service men and women who took part in the History Project’s Veterans Oral History Collection Day. Local service members will be joined at the reception by their families, representatives from local veteran’s organizations, elected officials, and business leaders from the area. The event will include remarks from local veterans and Congressman Chris Van Hollen will be the guest speaker.
