8th Annual Carroll County Small Business Awards Announced

The Department of Economic Development recognized a Carroll Business Path client, an agri-business, a growing small business enterprise, a local business that invests strongly in workforce development, plus two new category award winners - a Downtown Community Builder and a Carroll Business Champion.  Carroll Economic Development Administrator of Operations and Small Business Development Jon Weetman said, “Carroll County is blessed to have such an active and vibrant business community - we thrive on a heritage of self-reliance and determination.  It is an exciting time to be a part of Carroll’s growing entrepreneurial spirit.”

The award winners are:
- Carroll Business Path Award - Auto Glass Heroes ; Brian and Carol Gerhold, Owners
- Small Business Award - Hydro-Terra Group ; Michael D. Haufler, President & Director of Technical Services; Jeffrey J. Lindaw, Director of Operations and Senior Designer Michael Swam
- Agri-business Award - ’Bullocks Country Family Restaurant, Meats and Farm Market ; Bob & Anita Bullock (former owners), Clyde & Cindy Hirt and Doug & Sandy Zepp (current owners).
- Downtown Community Builder Award - ’Hampstead Farmers Market ; Sharon Callahan and Marlene Duff, Co-Coordinators
- Workforce Development Award - Legacy Septic & Excavation Company ; Jenny & George Schooley, Owners

Mike McMullin, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce President stated, “Not only are our award winners recognized locally for their expertise and their accomplishments, but Carroll businesses are often selected as business partners and award winners regionally and nationally; that type of recognition is quite a tribute to their success.”

Carroll Business Path is a collaborative effort among the Carroll County Department of Economic Development, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Miller Center for Small Business at Carroll Community College, America’s Small Business Development Center and the Carroll Technology Council.  The primary role of the Carroll Business Path is to deliver customized small business resource assistance to small and emerging businesses in Carroll County.
